This work aims to bring liberation theology up to date by introducing the radical critical approaches of gender, post-colonial and queer theory, and grounding the theoretical in actual examples from Latin America. Althaus-Reid re-works three distinct areas of theology – sexual, political and systematic – exposing the connections between theology, sexuality and politics, while presenting a methodology for a sexual re-reading of ”Systematic Theology”, with the aim of broaden the debate on sexuality and theology.
